Course Details
Course Overview The ATPL Meteorology (MET) course provides pilots with a comprehensive understanding of atmospheric processes and weather phenomena that directly affect flight safety, performance, and decision-making. This subject goes far beyond memorising charts and codes — it explains why weather behaves the way it does, how to anticipate hazardous conditions, and how to interpret operational meteorological products used daily in airline operations. Meteorology is one of the most safety-critical ATPL subjects, underpinning flight planning, fuel decisions, route selection, and in-flight risk management. This course is designed for: ATPL(A) students (Integrated & Modular) CPL/IR pilots preparing for airline operations Airline cadets and junior First Officers Pilots transitioning to jet or long-haul operations Learning Objectives By the end of this course, you will be able to: Understand atmospheric structure and weather formation Identify and assess hazardous weather phenomena Interpret operational weather charts and reports Apply meteorological knowledge to flight planning and decision-making Anticipate weather-related risks before they impact operations
