Course Details

The ATPL Principles of Flight (PoF) course delivers a deep, structured understanding of why an aircraft flies the way it does—from basic aerodynamic forces to high-speed jet behaviour at altitude. It is designed specifically for EASA ATPL theoretical knowledge, while remaining directly relevant to modern airline operations and simulator training. Principles of Flight is not about memorising definitions or diagrams. It is about building the cause-and-effect logic that explains aircraft behaviour in normal, abnormal, and limiting conditions. This course gives you the mental model needed to predict what the aircraft will do when speed, configuration, thrust, weight, or altitude changes—before the automation reacts. This course is ideal for: ✈️ ATPL(A) students (Integrated or Modular) 🧑‍✈️ CPL/IR holders progressing toward ATPL 🛫 Airline cadets preparing for jet performance and simulator assessments 🎓 Pilots who want true aerodynamic understanding—not rote formulas By the end of this course, you will be able to: Explain lift, drag, thrust, and weight using cause-and-effect reasoning Predict aircraft response to changes in speed, thrust, configuration, and mass Understand angle of attack as the core variable controlling flight Analyse stability, control, and trim in pitch, roll, and yaw Understand high-speed aerodynamics relevant to transport jets Interpret PoF questions as an airline pilot—not a physics student
